설날

설날 1

Eva, there are many holidays in my country. I love 설날 the best. 설날 is the biggest holidays in my country. It is lunar new year's day. It is in winter. So It’s really cold. But I like it. My family goes to the countryside.  My hometown is 포천. 포천 is really far from my house. I go there with my family. And we drive there. Actually it takes more than 2 hours. So it makes me really tired. But I feel so good. Because I love to see my family. There are so many people there. My family and I play games. There are many traditional games in Korea. The best game is 윷놀이. Eva, Have you ever heard of “윷놀이”. 윷놀이 is a board game. And it is really fun and easy to play. We throw 4 wooden sticks in the air. And we move our horses.

It is really exciting. I’m good at it. So I usually bet money with my cousin. And I usually win.  

So I love to play 윷놀이. 

Eva, I really recommend 윷놀이 to you. You won’t regret it.

Ok Eva. As I told you, I love 설날. 설날 is a lunar new year's day. I go to my parents' house. They live in 포천.

포천 is really far from my house. It takes at least an hour by car. So I feel really tired. But I really love to see them.

On 설날, we do many kinds of things. We talk to each other and play games. We eat many delicious foods. Eva. have you ever heard of 떡국? 떡국 is korea's traditional food. It is rice cake soup. It is very easy to make. I love 떡국 so I eat a lot. That's why I gain weight on 설날. After eating, we play many games. My favorite game is 윷놀이. 윷놀이 is a board game. We throw 4 wooden sticks in the air. It's really easy to play. I'm good at it. So I usually win. Sometimes, adults play 화투. 화투 is a card game. And there are some flower pictures and they are little red plastic cards. And I bet a lot of money on 화투. But I'm not good at it. So I lose a lot of money. 

But I really love the time I spend my family. Eva, what is your favorite holiday?
